Second Stage of the 1974 Tour de France in Plymouth
Cyclists compete in the second stage of the 1974 Tour de France in Plymouth. This was the first time in its 71 year history that the race came to England. The winner of the 101.7 mile second stage was Dutch rider Henk Poppe with the Frison Bicycling Team in 3 hr 53 min 44 sec with an average speed of 46 mph, second place was French cyclist Jacques Esclassan with the Peugeot-BP team, and third was Belgian rider Patrick Sercu with the Brooklyn team.
