Eighth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement

Eighth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega (L), Libyan Statesman Moammar Kadhafi, and Cuban Head of State since 1976 Fidel Castro (R) join hands at the eighth Summit of Non-Aligned Countries (membership will rise from 29 countries in 1961 to 112 by 1995). Driven by the need to affirm their political voice after the Cold War, the Non-Aligned Movement 's member states convene every three years to discuss means of consolidating their development.
