Cuban poet and novelist Reinaldo Arenas is in Paris, France. Born in 1943, Arenas was persecuted for his homosexuality under Fidel Castro's regime. His writings banned in Cuba, he fled the country and published numerous works in France and the United States. Suffering from AIDS, Arenas committed suicide in New York in 1990.
