A textile worker makes the morning rounds and replaces any empty spools of thread. On January 1, 2005 textile quotas that had governed the industry for thirty years expired resulting in a large surge in textile exports from China. When the dust settles it is predicted that China will account for almost 50% of world's textile manufacturing market. With governments around the world threatening to place tariffs and trade restrictions on China's textile exports because of the Chinese governments refusal to adjust its currency and cheap manufacturing labour, China seems to be taking the threats in its stride as textile production around the country continues to increase each month.
