Young Czech Mounts Soviet Tank In Prague 1968 Invasion
A young Czech climbs on a Soviet T-54 tank in the Vinohrady street near the state-owned radio building in Prague during confrontations between demonstrators and the Warsaw Pact troops and tanks who invaded Czechoslovakia to crush the newfound freedom and re-establish a totalitarian regime. A statement by the party of Democratic Socialism (PDS), marking the 30th anniversary of the "Prague Spring", made a public apology for East Berlin's role in the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia in August 1968.
