President Richard Nixon (R) shows his joy at being nominated as Republican presidential candidate with running-mate Spiro Agnew. He will campaign for re-election against the South Dakota Democrat Senator George S. McGovern. Outside of the 1972 30th Republican Convention, supporting former President Richard Nixon's re-election campaign, several thousand Women's Lib protesters demonstrate. The protest led by Jane Fonda, having just returned from her North Vietnam tour, was joined by the Vietnam Veterans to speak out against the war. The horror of the Vietnam war is interpreted in the street by young demonstrators. Police arrested 1000 demonstrators attempting to disrupt the convention.
