NBA star Earvin "Magic" Johnson raises his arms in triumph on the podium, after receiving his gold medal from International Olympic Committee president Juan Antonio Samaranch, after the United States defeated Croatia in the men's basketball final at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain on August 8, 1992. The United States defeated Croatia 117-85 to win the gold medal. It was the first time in the history of the Olympics that professional players from the NBA were allowed to participate in what was dubbed the "dream team."
