China - Condoms at AIDS-awareness display at exhibition in Shanghai
A Chinese man checks condoms at the AIDS-awareness display at an exhibition in Shanghai March 2, 2006. Last year, there were about 25,000 deaths from AIDS across China. In January, Beijing lowered, by about 30 percent, its estimate of the number of people living with HIV/AIDS, but warned against complacency, saying the figure was still rising with people unaware of the danger.
