There are more than 6000 amputees in Sierra Leone as a result of the brutal civil war. Charles Taylor, the former Liberian leader who is accused of backing a rebel group that cut off limbs, mutilated and raped thousands of civilians in Sierra Leone, pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of crimes against humanity at the Special court in Sierra Leone on Monday. The descision to move Taylor's trial to the Hague is still pending.
