Corneal transplantation is the partial or total replacement of the cornea from one human to another. Here the stitches around the replacement cornea can be clearly seen. The cornea is the transparent front part of the eye. It is a fibre like structure with five layers and is dense and even in thickness. It projects like a dome beyond the white of the eye (sclera). The amount of curve varies in different persons and it can also change since the cornea tends to flatten with age.
