The China Club in Beijing hosts many business dinners in its private ante-rooms where clients discuss business over a quiet drink. Xiao Yong is an active member of the club, of which he is proud. He has invited a business colleague over for lunch. He works in one of Beijing's most prestigious law firms whose main client is the Chinese government. The firm specialises in purchasing oil for the Chinese government. Xiao Yong is a party member and toes the party line, owing his success to his workaholic attitude. A top student, he studied law in China and the USA where he worked for Houston law firm Vinson and Elkins, of which he is a founding member.
