A luxury, high-security residential complex in Beijing offering houses with 2 million dollar price tags, patrolled by over 200 security guards. Despite the cost of these homes, they have been built surprisingly close together with little private space or gardens separating them. This new generation of compounds contain a five star hotel, restaurants, swimming pools, golf courses, two artificial lakes, with villas overlooking over English-style grassy lawns bordering on the shimmering lakes - somewhat remioniscent of Lake Leman in Switzerland. Security is draconian with guards carrying out patrols on bikes every 200 meters to check circulation authorisations. Most buyers are Chinese. The houses are encircled by a high perimeter wall complete with speakers to keep prying neighbors at bay.
