The most exclusive compound, in Beijing, with houses costing 2 million dollars assures security to the inhabitants with the concession of their privacy. Such a compound, among the new generation of estates, includes five star hotels, swimming pools, restaurants, golf courses, two artificial lakes surrounded by English style lawns. The atmosphere could be that of Lake Leman in Switzerland. The security is draconian, guards stopping people every two hundred yards to verify identification and authorization. Most of the inhabitants are Chinese who are more than happy to pay to be locked in by high walls blocking the landscape each night.
