Miu Miao village is a mixed race area of Han Chinese and the Hui minority. This house belongs to a Hui Muslim family of four. The father puts in a rare appearance because of the New Year celebrations, otherwise he is normally absent, employed on a site as a migrant worker in Mongolia. Most migrant workers in this region go in search of work as a village group to avoid being fleeced by other workers or ripped off by employers.
