South Africa - Former South African President Nelson Mandela
Former South African President Nelson Mandela waves to the crowd at the funeral of African National Congress (ANC) stalwart Adelaide Tambo in Wattville, east of Johannesburg. Mandela said: Adelaide was an activist and freedom fighter in her own right and she was a mother to the liberation movement in exile. Tambo lived in Wattville with her late husband, former ANC president Oliver Tambo, before leaving South Africa to set up the ANC mission in exile. She was laid to rest beside her late husband in the Tamboville Cemetery.
