USA - 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance - 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Racer Special Concept

The 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Racer Special has to be ranked as one of the most beautiful, influential sports car designs ever. Bill Mitchell, taking over the design reins from legendary Harley Earl, labored on the Stingray Racer in GM's highly secretive "Studio X" with fellow stylists. Hidden within GM's corporate labyrinth, Studio X was responsible for some of the most spectacular show cars of all time. The end result was a design that not only strongly foreshadowed the 1963 Corvette, but influenced countless other sports car designs of the 1960s. Classic cars and vehicles like this were featured at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
