epa01710784 A Filipino carries a live piglet to a roasted pig shop in La Loma, Quezon City, eastern Manila, Philippines on 27 April 2009. Philippine health officials assured to the public that the meat available in the market is safe for consumption, in light of the recent outbreak of swine flu in Mexico and the United States. As a precautionary measure, a ban against importation of meat from the two countries has been issued. Suspected swine flu cases in Mexico has risen to 1,614 and has resulted in 103 deaths, as health experts fear it can become a pandemic disease. EPA/ALANAH TORRALBA
