Italy - Health - Cascina Rossago Farm Community for Autistic Adults

Autism is a brain development disorder characterized by impaired social interactions and restricted and repetitive behavior. These signs all begin before a child is three years old. The prevalence of ASD is about 6 for every 1,000 people, and afflicts four times as many males as females. Not many children with autism live independently after reaching adulthood. An autistic culture has developed, with some seeking a cure and others believing autism should be tolerated as a difference and not treated as a disorder. Cascina Rossagois, the first farm community in Italy for autistic adults, holds as its basic principle to create a living environment that caters to the needs of autistic adults. | Location: San Ponzo Semola, Italy.
