Haiti - Environment - Hurricane Aftermath

In September 2008, a new hurricane hit Gonaives. With natural vegetation no longer a solid anchor for the soil, the rising flood waters easily swept up the soil. As the flooding subsided, tons upon tons of mud were left upon the Gonaives plain, rendering it unfarmable.
