Fidel Castro 83rd birthday

epa01822379 (FILE) A file photo dated on 29 January 2004 shows Cuban President Fidel Castro during his closing speech at the summit in opposition of the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas(FTAA) in Havana, Cuba. Castro celebrates his 83rd birthday on 13 August 2009. Although Castro no longer leads Cuba, which he ruled for 47 years after heading the 1959 Cuban Revolution, he continues to engage frequently in political debate through regular opinion pieces he writes for state media and often receives visiting foreign dignitaries.
