epa01857327 Mourners at the World Trade Center, New York, USA, where Vice President Joseph Biden and thousands of families remembered those lost on the eighth anniversary of the attack which killed almost 3000 people, 11 September 2009. New York held a ceremony on the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center‘s twin towers, killing more than 2,700 people. Families of the victims and government officials met near the site of the attacks, known as Ground Zero, under a cold rainy early morning and began the ceremony with a minute of silence at 8:46 am (0446 GMT) to mark the time the first terrorist-hijacked commercial airplane hit one of the two towers.
