Ukraine confirmed a H1N1 swine flu epidemic

epa01917464 Ukrainians, wearing protective masks, seen in front of frescoes of Mikhaylovskiy cathedral in downtown Kiev, Ukraine, 01 November 2009. The Ukrainian disease-control programme went into effect to attempt to prevent the spread of H1N1 swine flu. Schools nationwide will remain closed for three weeks, and all mass gatherings have been forbidden. The bans comes at the height of Ukraine‘s football season and autumn school semester. They hinder much political campaigning planned by candidates in the January presidential elections. EPA/SERGEY DOLZHENKO
