Painting of artisans paying tribute to Rekhmire from the Tomb of Rekhmire
Detail of a painting from the Tomb of Rekhmire, Governor of Thebes, TT 100 in the Tombs of the Nobles at Thebes. Rekhmire was the ruler of Thebes and vizier during the reigns of Tuthmosis III and Amenhotep II. What distinguishes Rekhmire's tomb is the representations in his wall paintings of his daily life as the vizier. Rekhmire's tomb has scenes of tax collections. Here he receives the tribute of foreigners, farmers' organizations, artists and artisans of every profession, brick makers, metal workers and blacksmith's workshops.
