Broad collar necklace made of gold with semiprecious stones from the coffin of Queen Ahhotep,West Thebes, Eighteenth Dynasty, reign of Ahmose. Finding this beautiful collar of Queen Ahhotep, mother of King Ahmose was the catalyst for building the Egyptian Museum. When her coffin and jewels were found in Luxor, Khedive Said Pasha agreed, after seeing the discovery, to built an appropriate place in Bulaq for its display. The collar is called a wskh in ancient Egyptian.
