Detail of a painting in the Tomb of Irinufer, TT 290 at Dayr al-Madina at Luxor. Irinufer was the 'Servant in the Place of the Truth' during the Ramesside period and was buried in Deir el-Medina. His tomb differs from others in the necropolis because he only depicted funerary scenes but no scenes of daily life. This detail shows Siwazyt, the father of Irinufer, wearing a white wig and raising his hands in a gesture which the ancient Egyptians used to show respect and veneration.
