Detail of a painting in the Tomb of Amenemhet, scribe in the reign of Tuthmosis III. TT82 at Thebes. The ancient Egyptians presented highly spiritual concepts for burials in their tomb paintings. For them, the tomb was a place of immortality in which the deceased was united with the god Osiris. The scenes depicted on tomb walls play an important role in the journey of the deceased to the Afterlife. They also represent a celebration and enjoyment of the life of the deceased with scenes of musicians and dancers.
