Painting of women musicians from the Tomb of Rekhmire
Detail of a painting from the Tomb of Rekhmire, Governor of Thebes, TT 100 in the Tombs of the Nobles at Thebes. Detail from the northern wall in the passage from the tomb of Rekhmire. The upper part of the wall shows a group of women attending festivities and a funerary banquet. Other musicians and girls clapping their hands in rhythm accompany the female harper. A lyrical touch can be detected in their song: 'come, O north wind! I saw thee when I was on the towers.'
