Detail of the Innermost Coffin of Yuya

Detail of the Innermost Coffin of Yuya

Detail of the innermost coffin of Yuya, from tomb KV 46 of Yuya and Tuya, parents of Queen Tiya, in the Valley of the Kings at Luxor. Although we do not know with certainty where Yuya came from, many scholars suggest that he is from Akhmim a well-known city of Upper Egypt. When his tomb was found in the Valley of the Kings, his mummy was inside a golden coffin made of wood, gold and silver leaf, glass paste, alabaster and carnelian.
