Painting of Nakht's wife Tawy from the Tomb of Nakht

Detail of a painting from the Tomb of Nakht, Astronomer of Amun, TT 52 in the Tombs of the Nobles at Thebes. It was believed that music purifies the sense, and because Tawy the wife of Nakht was the musician of Amun she was beautiful. Nakht's wife wears the famous wig of the new kingdom and also wears the wskh over her shoulders. In her hand she holds a musical instrument.
