Painted fragment of a lion devouring a Southerner

Egyptian Eighteenth Dynasty fragment from Western Thebes now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The ancient Egyptians used every available device to express their beliefs and desires including decorated Ostracons, such as this limestone shard, which depicts a lion killing a Nubian man.
