Painting from TT 93 in the Valley of the Nobles at Thebes, the tomb of Kenamun, chief steward of the King Amenhotep II. This figure with dark skin, red hair and a black beard represents the land of Mitanni, which was located in Asia, north of today's Syria. The ancient Egyptian name for Mitanni was Naharin, one of the most challenging opponents of Egypt during the New Kingdom.
