Painting from the Book of Gates in the Tomb of the King Seti I

Painting from the Book of Gates in the Tomb of the King Seti I

Detail of painting from the Tomb of Seti I, KV 17 in the Valley of the Kings at Thebes. The fifth hour from the Book of the Gates is the most complex hour. The first register contains gods holding scepters, who give offerings to Re in the earth as he rises in the heaven. In the next register is a god holding a scepter, and in front of him are the souls of those who dwell in the Netherworld.
