Painting of Meryt and Sennefer from the tomb of Sennefer

Detail of a painting in the Tomb of Sennefer, Mayor of the Southern City, TT 96 in the Tombs of the Nobles in Thebes. Meryt was the 'beloved one' to her husband Sennefer, therefore, she appeared with him in most of the scenes in the tomb. She is offering him here a necklace with a scarab. She also presents him with the three signs of Ankh, the symbol of life, and Djed, the symbol of stability, power and dominion.
