The tallest building in the world was officially inaugurated on 04 January 2010 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. Formerly known as the Burj Dubai thebuilding was officially unveiled as the Burj Khalifa, named after the UAE President. The tower's official height was declared to be 828 metrer, 10 metrer taller than previous estimates had suggested and considerably taller than the previous record holder, Taipei 101. EPA/ALI HAIDER
