USA - Deepwater Horizon Disaster - Rescue Team Cleans Oil from Pelican

Erica Miller (L) Heather Nevill (C), and Danene Birtell clean an adult Brown Pelican covered with oil found on Grande Isle, Louisiana at Fort Jackson. The team is from the Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, Inc. hired by BP to rescue animals effected by the spill. Oil has gushed continually from the Deepwater Horizon oil rigl that sunk to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico after an explosion on April 2010. 12 birds have been rescued so far at Fort Jackson where Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, Inc. is in charge of cleaning animals with oil on them.
