(100620) -- HEFEI, June 20, 2010 (Xinhua) -- A fisherman sculls the boat on the eutrophicated surface of Caohu Lake with thick layers of cyanophyceae, or the blue-green algae, which runs rampant and stinks at the estuary of Shiwuli River into the Caohu Lake, in Hefei City, east China's Anhui Province, June 19, 2010. Shrinkage and degradation of lakes and deterioration of water quality and ecological functions of lakes are the major problems threatening China's lakes, and most of them are in a severe eutrophication state.
