epa02264253 1992 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Mayan indigenous Rigoberta Menchu (C), delivers a speech to a group of countrymen and natives of the San Miguel Ixtahuacan town, western department of San Marcos, during a protest against mining in their region, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, on 28 July 2010. The representatives of the San Miguel Ixtahuacan's communities, where a gold mine of Canadian GoldCorp is located, presented a legal suit against the President of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ, as in Spanish), Erick Alvarez, for an alleguedly contravention committed nine years ago. The natives accuse Alvarez of having promoted in 2001, in representation of the Peridot enterprise, linked to Montana Exploradora, subsidiary of GoldCorp, a "supplementary titulation" to own the lands where the mine is located.
