Pakistan - Floods - Portrait of child in floodwaters
A young boy, Asif, is photographed in the centre of the town of Khairpur Nathan Shah which had been submerged by floodwaters. ?I came here because of the flood. I don't really remember what happened that night because I was in a deep sleep. I was sleeping. Then the flood came. My mum was crying. Everyone was crying. Our family escaped and came to a safe place here. It's good here, better than before. Inside, it's good. But we're helpless here too. We're very poor, and we've no way of getting anything to eat or drink. And there's a big problem using the bathrooms. My dad's very old. My mum's old too. Then there's my sister. She's very little and she's disabled. She's been crying. We don?t have anything.? The floods have affected 20 million people including three million children under five. More than seven million people remain in need of emergency shelter. | Loca
