Africa - Darfur Conflict

Mariam Achmed Mohamed Jadu, 15, is seen at the Al Salam Refugee Camp in Al Fasher in North Darfur, Sudan, Jan. 16, 2007. Mariam said she was gang raped in early December 2006 by six men from the Janjaweed militias and Sudanese Army in her village, Abu Sakim, in North Darfur. Some of the men who came from the neighboring Arab village of Abu Salaya were known to her. Four women from her family were raped during the same incident which was reported to the police and judiciary in Al Fasher. No action has been taken.
