Australia - Floods - Portrait of flood victims

Laurena Hooker, 47, with husband Glenn Teale, 41, and a pile of their destroyed possessions in Rocklea. ?Once the water started coming in it just kept coming, it was just massive. Everything was submerged, it even got into the roof cavities. We were pretty lucky, though, we only lost material stuff. We had wanted to spring clean and de-clutter and it's certainly what we did. Our footpath was 6-7 feet high with rubbish - every house in the street was the same. There was nothing worse than turning up at the house each morning and seeing everything on the footpath. It was so raw. Glenn put a sign out the front saying 'Welcome to Under Water World: Captain Squidwood owner'. We hoped people would get a laugh or a smile out of it because there wasn't much of that around. We thrive on humour, that's our way of dealing with the tragedy.? (Laurena Hooker)
