A chaotic scene ensues at the gate to the port of Misurata, Libya as Libyans desperately try to get on a ship leaving the city for Benghazi, meanwhile Nato air strikes can be heard in the distance. For both foreigners and nationals alike, fleeing Misurata has been extremely difficult. Misurata, Libya's third largest city and first to fall to the rebels, has been under siege by Gaddafi forces for approximately fifty days. It is the last rebel holdout city in Western Libya, cut off from the outside world by land and only reachable by sea. Water is scarce, power is nonexistent in many sections of the city, and the death toll since the February fighting began is believed to be over 1,000.
