Tunisia - Immigration - Sinking of a Boat of African Migrants From Libya
The body of a drowned immigrant with the boat that originated in Libya (Background) carrying approximately 850 refugees sits on a sandbar 35 km north of the Tunisian islands of Kerkennah. The Tunisian Coast Guard rescued 593 of the mainly West African immigrants on Wednesday but about 250 are presumed to have drowned. The bodies of at least 20 immigrants who drowned are floating around the boat and lying on the sea floor as of the afternoon of 04 June 2011.(Photo: Samuel Aranda / Corbis) | Location: Kerkennah Islands, Tunisia.
