According to a poll conducted by Viavoice, to be be published on 24 October by the newspaper Liberation, the French consider the economic and financial policies of Nicolas Sarkozy very negative. 81 percent of those surveyed think that Mr. Sarkozy policies were not 'effective' regarding purchasing power. Negative reviews are 78 percent concerning the employment and 75 percent for those related to debt and deficit. The French would have more confidence in the Socialist candidate Francois Hollande (48 percent) than in Nicolas Sarkozy (33 percent) to improve the financial situation of the country. According to the same survey, 45 percent of French people want Francois Hollande as President of the Republic, against 27 percent favoring Nicolas Sarkozy. The survey was conducted by telephone from20 to 22 October among a sample of 1,005 people representative of the French population aged 18 and older. EPA/CAROLINE BLUMBERG
