Albert Memorial in Hyde Park

The Albert Memorial in Hyde Park. Sited directly opposite the Royal Albert Hall (in the background) was commissioned by Queen Victoria in memory of her beloved husband, Prince Albert, who died of typhoid in 1861. ??Resplendent in its over-the-top Victorian Gothic revival style, the memorial was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and opened in 1872.
