(120209) -- SRINAGAR, Feb. 9, 2012 (Xinhua) -- A pharmaceutical trader lies on a road during a protest in Srinagar, summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, Feb. 9, 2012. Hundreds of people associated with pharmaceutical trade Thursday staged a demonstration in Indian-controlled Kashmir against the newly approved Drug Policy. As per the new law it will be mandatory for doctors to prescribe medicines on the basis of generic name but not the brand name given by pharmaceutical companies. The spokesman of Coordination of Drug traders and Pharma, Qamraan Niazi said the new policy will affect the livelihood of around one million people associated with the trade. (Xinhua/Javed Dar)(msq)
