(120222) -- WUXI, Feb. 22, 2012 (Xinhua) -- Xiang Guoju (Back) and his mule caravan convey goods for villagers in Wuxi County, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, Feb. 19, 2012. The rugged path heading towards Wuxi County in northeast Chongqing was a bustling artery for mule caravans, which carried daily goods for villagers in the 1980s, when no highways linked the outside world. A mule caravan at that time was able to earn about 200 RMB yuan (32 U.S. dollars) per day. New roads built in the past years have grabbed business of the mule caravans, leaving only four mules staggering on the path guided by three people, a sharp contrast with the heyday of about 200 mules for the service. Xiang Guoju, one of the three people keeping to conveying goods, also mulls quitting due to the bleak business. (Xinhua/Chen Cheng) (lfj)
