China sends 11th naval escort flotilla to Somali waters

The 11th Chinese naval escort flotilla, consisting of destroyer Qingdao, frigate Yantai, comprehensive supply ship Weishanhu, shipborne helicopters and tens of special force soldiers, departed from Qingdao in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong on Monday (27 February 2012) for the escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters to protect commercial ships from pirate attacks.
