Aurora Borealis on March 09 over Northern Minnesota
The Aurora Borealis; or Northern Lights, as viewed from Blackduck, MN during the early morning hours of March 09 2012. These aurora displays were part of a geomagnetic storm that resulted from an X-class solar flare. Geomagnetic storms can disrupt power grids and interfere with GPS signals and other satellite operations.
