Ovary cell of Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda)
Ovary cell (Sf-9 strain) of the Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), a Moth agricultural pest of corn and various other crops. Insect cells are able to produce various eukaryotic proteins and Sf9 is a commonly used cell line in biotechnology applications. These cells can be grown in suspension culture or monolayers and a variety of recombinant proteins can be obtained by utilizing the baculovirus expression system. This cell line is highly susceptible to infection with Autographa california Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus. SEM X1865
