Court finds businessman Alexei Kozlov guilty of $8.5m fraud

ITAR-TASS: MOSCOW, RUSSIA. MARCH 13, 2012. Businessman Alexei Kozlov leaves the Presnensky District Court building after his retrial. The court has reconvicted Kozlov of a $8.5m fraud with a five year sentence. In 2009 Kozlov was found guilty of fraud and attempted money laundering and sentenced to 8 years in prison colony. In September 2011, the Supreme Court's Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases overturned the sentence against Kozlov. The businessman was released from prison and ordered not to leave Moscow. Kozlov and his wife, a prominent journalist, say the investigation against him is politically motivated. The businessman, who has already served more than half of his sentence, will stay in prison for another one and a half years. (Photo ITAR-TASS / Sergei Karpov)
